7 Best Cliff Jumping Spots on Lake Travis (2026 Guide)
Discover the best cliff jumping locations on Lake Travis near Austin TX. Heights, difficulty levels, how to get there by boat, and safety tips from experienced captains.

Lake Travis is famous for its cliff jumping opportunities. The limestone cliffs that line the lake create natural jumping platforms at various heights, and the deep, clear water below makes it one of the safest cliff jumping destinations in Texas.
How Cliff Jumping Works on Lake Travis
Unlike ocean cliff jumping, Lake Travis cliffs are best accessed by boat. Your captain will anchor near the base of the cliffs, and you swim or wade to the jumping spots. Water levels on Lake Travis fluctuate seasonally, which affects which cliffs are jumpable and from what height.
Important: Always check the water depth before jumping. Your captain will know the current conditions and which spots are safe.
The Best Spots
1. Pace Bend Park Cliffs
The most popular cliff jumping area on Lake Travis. Multiple jump heights from 10 to 30+ feet. Easy boat access with good anchoring spots nearby. Best for: all skill levels.
2. Hippie Hollow Cliffs
Located near Austin's famous clothing-optional beach. Lower cliffs (10-15 feet) perfect for beginners. Beautiful limestone formations. Note: Hippie Hollow itself is clothing-optional, but the cliffs are separate.
3. The Narrows
A dramatic canyon-like section of Lake Travis with walls rising on both sides. Jump heights range from 15-25 feet. The scenery here is unlike anywhere else on the lake — it feels like a mini Grand Canyon.
4. Starnes Island
A lesser-known spot that the locals love. Multiple jumping platforms at different heights. Less crowded than Pace Bend, especially on weekdays.
5. Mansfield Dam Area
Near the dam on the south end of the lake. Some of the highest cliffs on Lake Travis (25-40 feet). For experienced jumpers only. Deep water below.
6. Arkansas Bend
Great for beginners with lower cliffs (8-15 feet). The area is also excellent for swimming and snorkeling in the clear water.
7. Marshall Ford
Hidden gem on the north shore. Mix of heights from 10-20 feet. Your captain can anchor right at the base of the cliffs.
Safety Tips
- Always check depth first — your captain will confirm water levels
- Jump feet first on your first attempt at any new spot
- Never jump alone — always have a spotter in the water
- Wear water shoes — the limestone can be slippery and sharp
- Start low — try a 10-foot jump before attempting anything higher
- Listen to your captain — they jump these cliffs regularly and know the conditions
Best Boats for Cliff Jumping Trips
Any of our boats can take you cliff jumping, but boats with water slides (King Kong, Pineapple Express, Banana Split) add an extra element of fun. The upper deck on our double-deckers also gives you a great vantage point to scout the cliffs before swimming over.
